On a mission to find Milwaukee's Best Bloody Mary

You say tomato, I say Bloody Mary.

The Cotton Exchange | Waterford, Wisconsin

After a couple weeks hiatus, I figured I’d better get back on the Bloody train (sidenote: if you say that last sentence in an English accent, you might laugh.  I digress…).  I’ve been keeping busy with work and more work.  We were out in Burlington to drop off some wedding invitations to a friend and thought we’d grab brunch at the Cotton Exchange in Waterford.  We were there for a party this past winter, and really liked the food and atmosphere.  The Cotton Exchange is an old barn turned restaurant.  One side has a formal sit down area and the other is a pretty decently sized bar.

The Cotton Exchange also does not have a website but they are on just about every review site out there.  The brunch was buffet, all-you-can-eat style.  After I got back to the table from filling my plate, my bloody mary was waiting for me.  Oh, hello!

Here’s what I thought:

Spice:  This one wasn’t too spicy, but it did have a good flavor.  The mix was pretty thick with some chunks of what I’m pretty sure was horseradish.  I didn’t get a chance to ask the bartender how they made the mix, or if it was mass produced product.  If I had to guess, I’d say it was a mass produced product that the restaurant orders.  I only say this because, while it was good, it tasted very typical.  I could tell a little celery salt was sprinkled on top, and there was good pepper and seasonings in it but there was nothing about the taste that really surprised me or that I found really outstanding.

Chaser: No chaser with this one!

Garnish:  The garnish was also nothing special.  For having a full restaurant, I’d think they could do a little more than a pickle, olive, lime and lemon.

Size: 16 oz typical bar glass

Buzz:  I caught a little, bitty buzz at the Cotton Exchange.  Mix that with the tasty brunch, and you’ve got a sleeping Shannon on the way home.  Fact.

Cost: $4.50  –  This has been the cheapest Bloody yet.  I can’t say it tasted this cheap!  What a deal!

The Cotton Exchange is a really cute place with great food.  I think I liked their dinner better though.  Not sure if we’ll be back for brunch & bloody’s.
