On a mission to find Milwaukee's Best Bloody Mary

You say tomato, I say Bloody Mary.

INdustri Cafe | Milwaukee, Wisconsin

** INdustri has permanently closed **

INdustri Cafe in Walkers Point has been the buzz in Milwaukee lately with their over-the-top Bloody Mary.  It’s been on my list of places to try for quite some time now.  Review sites like Yelp! and urbanspoon rave about this drink.  My friend and I ended up here on accident on Mothers Day and didn’t regret it.  Walking in, the bartenders welcomed me.  Ashley got there a moment before me and already had her Bloody Mary proudly displayed.  As mine was placed in front of me, one of the bartenders, Sam, said “welcome to the bar”.

INdustri was quiet enough this particular day to have brunch and chat.  It’s easy to see, though, how it could get busy.  Their Bloody Mary is no joke.  It’s the ultimate “Sunday Funday” in one cup.  Their website labels it as “Wisconsin’s Biggest and Best Bloody Mary.  This 24 ounce mammoth is a salad & an appetizer in a glass!  It comes with everything, but the kitchen sink.”

Industri Cafe Bloody MarySorry to resort back to the iPhone pictures.
TJ was out of town and took all equipment.
Didn’t he realize I had important business to photograph?

Needless to say, I was excited to see what all the buzz was about.

Mix: This mix is simple yet tasty.  There’s nothing super crazy about it.  It’s not spicy, it’s not thick, not thin.  It’s just a good bloody mary mix.  I didn’t ask but rumor on the street is they make their own infused Rohorst vodka.  Whatever they’re doing, it’s smooth and goes down well.

Garnish: You mean, garden?  This garnish was intense.  Smoked cheese, olives, celery, pickle, sprout, asparagus, marinated mushrooms, beef stick, pearl onions, and deep fried shrimp.  It’s good to know that vegetables and alcohol play well together!

Chaser: As most places are moving toward this, I feel, we were able to pick our own small beer chaser.  I picked Fixed Gear and it went down too easily.

Size: 24 ounces.  It was gigantic.

Buzz: When I said earlier that I was excited to see what all the “buzz” was about, I figured it out.   Hello… this is 24 ounces.  It’s about all I need on a Saturday with intent to get dangerous, let alone on a Sunday out for brunch.  This was enough hair of the dog to put me right to sleep from 330-5PM.

Cost: $13.  For what you get with this Bloody, I think it’s priced right.

Folks, I’m finally getting smart about this.  I knew this Bloody was huge so I had a very exciting order of 2 scrambled eggs.  Ashley got Vanilla French Toast – I had a bite and it was tasty.  I recommend this place for the experience alone… the Bloody Mary was impressive.
